A delightful chocolate cake adorned with ghostly faces, perfect for Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • White frosting (for covering the cake)
  • Chocolate candy eyes (to create ghost faces)
  • Black icing (for additional design elements)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Mix in the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract, beating on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Incorporate the boiling water carefully; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Cool the cakes for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Frost the cooled cakes with white frosting.
  8. Decorate with chocolate candy eyes to create ghost faces, and use black icing for details.

Notes

Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting to avoid melting.
